Jake Lyon Jake Lyon Respect runs in the family
Jake Lyon
Supreme Entries #33
Date: 6/8/04
Location: Apparently a gym...moron

(A distant banging is heard in the darkness. It's a sort of deep thud, thud, thud, over and over again. The camera begins to focus and we see a local gym. However, it is obvious that it is afterhours. The place is totally empty and hardly any light. The thudding comes from the other side of the room. The camera hurries over and discovers a young man pounding on a body bag. He is laying in punch after punch, keeping up the same tempo with focused eyes locked onto the bag. He hits the same spots over and over with his taped fists. The determined man glistens with sweat. He wears a pair of boxing trunks and a pair of boots. His shaggy, dark hair sways with every punch, weighed down from sweat from what looks like hours of work. He looks to be around 6'2' or 6'3' and about 250 or so. He is well built and looks to be all muscle. In the silence of the building, it is noticed that the young man is whispering to himself. Not the sort of whisper that you hear from men in the alleyways or street corners, but a calm collective voice. His voice stay focused on the bag as the camera man leans in to hear the stranger)

?: One thousand four hundred and thirty-two, one thousand four hundred and thirty-three...

And so the young athelete continues his almost silent counting for another solid fifteen minutes of pounding on the bag. Finally, with a deep sigh, the young man hits the bag one more time, this time putting everything behind it. The punch sends the bag swinging up to the ceiling and comes back at the youth who catches it. He gives the bag a tired smile before heading over to a nearby bench and drapes a towel across his shoulders. He wipes neck and arms down after a moment's rest and then dabs at his brow. He throws the towel into a basket behind him and looks up at the ceiling.

?: I hope you were planning on me seeing you because I was about to head to the showers and sorry, I don't swing that way. You obviously know who I am though Mr. Camera Man, but do the people watching this? I doubt it. So let me introduce myself. My name is Jake Lyon, born and raised over in Chicago Illinois and I've been bred to be the very best this industry has ever seen. My father was a wrestler, his fater was a wrestler, and his father was a championship winning amateur wrestler. I'm like a pure-bred horse, I compete because I love the sport and I'm made for it. I am a fourth generation superstar in the making, and the first corporation for me to join is none other than Supreme Wrestling. Why? Because I want a challenge. Why should I waste my time with little indy feds when I can go straight to the top? It makes sense to me.

Jake: So I signed up, got a better contract than I would have expected but hey, who am I to complain? Heh, a little extra money can't hurt anyone can it? Nah. So I just signed up and they throw me into the tag tournament thing. My partner is some guy named Lotus, I haven't heard anything from him. Seems like the guy doesn't even care about this business, so I guess I'll have to carry us to victory. However, I have heard of our opponents. Actually, I've only heard of one of them. Heather DiRocco. At first, when I saw your picture on the roster, I thought to myself, 'Damn, that girl would be quite the manager or just some good eye candy.' But no, this girl comes to this place to fight, which is more than I can say for her partner which I have never heard of before. Johnny Grant? I have no clue who you are nor do I care. If you don't have the guts to show your face around here, then I won't have the respect for you to talk about you. Sorry man, that's just how it goes.

Heather, I do have respect for you. A woman trying to make it in the men's division? I better admire that kind of passion. I respect you so much that I promise not to hold anything back in my debut match here in Supreme Wrestling. At Warfare, I would like to see how good of a competitor you really are. I'd like to see whether you are the real deal or just another woman thinking that she can win matches by teasing men into letting her pin them just so they can be close to you for three seconds. I'm sure a few women could do that considering the pervs there are in this business. But I'm not like that. This match comes first and I will win my first match here in SW.

They say first impressions are everything and I agree. I intend to make a damn good first impression for all of the old boys in the back room. I may be young, hell I'm probably the youngest superstar to ever step in that ring. At the age of nineteen, I've had my fair mistreatments from some of the veterans. They think that my lack of experience will cost me matches, but I think it's better for a man to discover his own path. I think it's better for a guy to find out who he really is rather than following in the footsteps of men before him. I am the first man to go from high school straight to a major pro wrestling corporation. I'm like the Kevin Garnett of Supreme Wrestling. The only difference is I'm not going to wait until my ninth season to explode, I plan to the first chance I get!

Wrestling is ninety percent mental and that is what I am all about. You have to have confidence in yourself to get anywhere in this world and that is what I have. But I am not so naive as to think that no man is better than me. I know that I will have defeats along with victories and I am prepared for those failures. But that does not mean that I will be satisfied with a fifty percent winning record. That is not what I mean. I am going to get better, I will rise to the top of this business and I will become the very best...but all that comes in time. All that comes from learning and training.

This Friday, I will step into that ring for the first time and put on a show that few will remember. I hope to have people years from now remembering and bragging how they saw my first match here in SW. They will say that I was nowhere as good as I am in that day, but I had such gifts, that it was impossible not to recognize such a star. That is a dream of mine, to be remembered as a great one. Will you be able to stop my dream Heather, I hope you try. That will only make the fight better. My name is Jake Lyon, and I am the real king of the jungle!
